The HBAA’s Governmental and Regulatory Affairs program is designed to give Alabama’s home-building industry a strong voice on the local, state, and national stages. The HBAA accomplishes this by supporting legislation and regulatory rules that strengthen the industry and have a positive impact on the state’s economy.
In addition to lobbying for the home building industry, the Governmental Affairs program provides other benefits exclusively to HBAA members:
- Monitor state agencies for actions that may impact home building
- Testify before public hearings on issues affecting the home building industry
- Recommend individuals for appointments to various state agencies that deal with home-building interests
- Provide governmental affairs support to local associations dealing with County & Municipal growth & tax-related issues
- Draft model legislation and regulatory rules
- Provide assistance on building code issues to local and state agencies and associations
