2019 QCI STORMWATER CONTINUING ED

Get your mandatory QCI continuing education at a time and place that is most convenient for you!

If you are a QCI(Qualified Credentialed Inspector),you are required by ADEM to take a continuing education course each year to maintain your certified status. The HBAA offers two ways to obtain your continuing ed credit.

Online (www.alabamabuilderuniversity.com)

The HBAA offers online stormwater certification continuing education, check out the builder university tab at www.HBAA.org. Online training not only saves you the time you would normally spend away from your office to sit in on the 4-hour CE class, but youll pay just $80 compared to $125 for the class room training. Take thecourse at your own pace in the comfort of your home or office.

On-Site

If on line training is not an option for you, the HBAA continues to offer several CE training classes throughout the state.

See the schedule for upcoming class dates and locations. Each classroom course is from 12:30p.m. to 4:30p.m. unless otherwise noted. The cost is $125 per attendee.

Get the tools you need to be compliant with stormwater regulations while saving time and money. Since 1999, the HBAA has been the leader in providing Qualified Credentialed Inspector (QCI) training in Alabama. This award-winning program, a joint effort between the HBAA and ADEM, provides basic tools and strategies to help achieve and maintain compliance with the stormwater permit at all construction sites. Engineers with TTL, professionals in erosion andsedimentcontrol who are ADEM-approved, will teachthe course.

 You’ll learn:

  • Construction Best Management Practices (BMPs)

    Required to meet water quality objectives

  • How to perform in sections under ADEM NPDES permit rather than hire engineers or consultants to do it, saving you time andmoney

  • How to avoid ADEM/EPA/ local enforcement actions and associated costs

Enrollment is granted on a first-come, first- served basis

Safety 6 covers common residential and light commercial jobsite hazards and offers practical injury prevention measures. It provides resources for developing an effective safety & health program that can lower workers comp cost and increase productivity.

Safety 6 also provides instruction on how to respond to an OSHA inspection. Under OSHA’s multi-employer rule, a builder can be held accountable for the safety violations of subcontractors under certain circumstances. Builders and contractors can learn how to protect themselves from costly OSHA penalties and injury lawsuits.

Attendees will receive a manual on the course topics and a course completion wallet card. The cost for Fund members is $35 per person and covers course materials, lunch and snacks. HBAA members not participating in the Fund may attend for $50 per person.

Lead Paint Certified Renovator Continuing Education
Oct 17 @ 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm


Under Alabama regulations, you must take a Lead Paint Certified Renovator refresher course every three years (not every five years as required by EPA). If you went through the lead certification program in 2016, you are up for renewal now.You must take the course BEFORE your expiration date. If not, the statewill require you to take the initial course again. Avoid costly delays bytaking the continuing education course now.

Local Executive Officers Online Registration

Mark your calendars for our Annual Convention in Music City! All HBAA members are invited to join us October 24-26 in Nashville, Tennessee for a weekend of meetings, education, networking and celebrating individual members and local Home Builders Associations for their accomplishments this year.

The Convention will feature a host of council and committee meetings that are open to all members and covering a variety of building and business-related topics. There will also be a session with special guest Jerry Howard, the CEO of the National Association of Home Builders, who will give an update on the current state of housing and a look ahead at what’s expected in 2020.

Members and their guests will enjoy a couple of special activities during the Convention, starting with the Thursday night Welcome Reception at Dierks Bentley’s Whisky Row, with food, drinks and live music. On Friday night, the annual awards banquet will honor individual members and local Home Builders Associations with awards for their service and dedication throughout the year. The banquet will also pay tribute to 2019 HBAA President David Lisenby and see the installation of the 2020 HBAA slate of officers.
