This continuing education offering of the Alabama Energy code by the HBAA is an in-depth view from the inception of the code. The approach to achieving goals mandated by the Department of Energy, the process and adoption of hurdles, and finally the latest version and revisions to the 2015 code. Alabama Energy Code II: Moisture Basics (2 HBLB CE hours)
This course is an in-depth look into the building science of moisture issues in residential structures from diagnostics to remediation. Moisture Basics reviews the recommendations of ASHRAE 62.2 as well as the challenges faced by reduced air infiltration rates mandated by the energy code. Safety 6 educates participants on common residential and light commercial job site hazards. The content provides a concise and easy-to-follow description of the safety rules governing most construction job sites. It offers practical injury prevention measures, including resources for developing an effective safety and health program plus information on products that can make the job site safer and more productive. Qualified Credentialed Inspector – Initial (8 HBLB CE hours)
This course will allow construction site individuals to better appreciate and understand the importance of and need to comply with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management construction stormwater program related to construction activities. Click here for class availability.
Qualified Credentialed Inspector – CE (4 HBLB CE hours)
This course provides for the annual refresher training needed to maintain the QCI certification. It is given on an annual basis and is updated to change with the current ADEM regulations and enforcement. Click here for class availability.
Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair & Painting – Initial (8 HBLB CE hours)
The Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair, and Painting certification course teaches individuals how to safely work with lead paint. It is an approved course by the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), the University of Alabama Safe State program, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The course teaches individuals how to safely prepare to work with lead paint, work safely with lead paint and how to clean up/dispose of lead paint debris. The course also covers Alabama reporting/recordkeeping requirements. There are eight modules in the course with eleven hands-on skill sets. Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair & Painting – CE (4 HBLB CE hours)
The Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair, and Painting continuing education course is a follow-up for the initial training. Once certified in the initial training individuals must take a refresher training every three years. The course is approved by the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), the University of Alabama Safe State program, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The course covers Alabama regulations, lead paint testing, review setup practices/prohibited practices/cleanup procedures, and recordkeeping. Click here for class availability.
