According to the 2009 IRC/IECC Alabama amendments, all new homes must be tested for their Duct and Envelope tightness prior to occupancy. The HBAA is working with the Alabama Power HVAC Training Center and others to provide individuals the necessary training to be a certified Duct and Envelope Tightness (DET) verifier. Once an individual has completed the required training, we will issue a certificate for a Qualified Credentialed Air Tightness Verifier (QCATV). You will use this certificate to apply to the State of Alabama Board of Heating, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Contractors to be a licensed DET verifier.
